Lan Tuazon

Born 1976 in Mabalacat/Philippines.

Lan Tuazon studied at the Cooper Union, New York in 1999 and received an MFA from Yale University in New Haven, CT/USA in 2002. In 2003 she finished a residency at the The Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program in New York.

Her art practice addresses the circulation and distribution of commodities and bodies in space as it relates to property and public space. She has exhibited internationally, among others in Germany at the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, in the United Kingdom at Floating IP and The Lowry Museum in London, with the ISE Cultural Foundation, Artist Space, Canada Gallery, Sculpture Center and Apex Art in New York.

Selected projects: »Insert Magazine«, an art magazine that inserts artistic content into mostly commercial publications; »Invisible Graffiti Magnet Show«, curator of an exhibition of artist made magnets onto one of Richard Serra’s Torqued Ellipse sculptures stored in a shipping yard in the Bronx (2006). Most recent project: »Dedicated to the one I love«, where she ordered the titles of 356 lovesongs to read as a love story, Exit Art, New York (2008).

Lan Tuazon is a Barry Cohen Fellow and has received a Worldstudio grant. She lives and works in New York.

Lan Tuazon participates in the exchange program between Akademie Schloss Solitude and POGON in Zagreb in 2010.
